Virginia A. Walton is an international teacher and the inventor of the Creative Curves Rulers (circular curves), the Creative Curves Ellipse Rulers (oval curves), Creative Curves Kaleidoscope Ruler, and the Multi-Angle, Wedge Ruler. She authored the following curved books; "The Creative Curves Book", "The Creative Curves Ellipse Book", "From Quilts To Wearable Art" and "Slow Down, Curves Ahead”, and “Throwing In A Curve” numerous patterns, and a companion book for the Kaleidoscope Ruler, "Illusions - Kaleidoscope Quilts".
Her specialties include easy sewing machine techniques (a No Pins curved piecing method in particular) and color or fabric selection ('how to' combine fabric to create the effect desired in a quilt). With husband Mike as her assistant and back-up man (no slam intended, Mike) Virginia is a little dynamo that keeps you mesmerized with her creativity. When Virginia leaves her booth at a quilt show, Mike kicks into action with his expertise. This guy is no slouch!

The CREATIVE CURVES Book has 12 Original Patterns and was designed for the Creative Curves 3" Ruler.
All of the Creative Curves Rulers (4", 3", 2"&1½") can be used to make the quilts in this book - the size of the quilt would change depending on which ruler was used.
The inside of the back cover has all of the sizes of pieces that would be cut if a different size Creative Curves Ruler was used to make the pattern.
This book includes cutting instructions as well as Virginia's unique 'No Pins' sewing techniques for the Creative Curves Rulers. In addition there are extensive graphics showing step-by-step instructions to make each of the patterns. All of the larger quilts have smaller wall-hangings included as a part of the pattern.

This curved book and while 'all' of the curved rulers (circular and oval curves) have been used to make the quilts in the book, all but 4 of the 14 patterns can be made with any one of the Creative Curves Rulers (4", 3", 2", & 1½”- circular curves) and the Creative Curves ELLIPSE Ruler Set (2"x 4" & 1½”x 3"- oval curves).
These are the quickest and easiest patterns to date. The option to use a different size ruler to make the quilts is given on the inside of the back cover. Approximately a third of the book is comprised of patterns that use the Creative Curves Rulers, a third of the patterns use the Creative Curves ELLIPSE Rulers).
The remaining third of the patterns are made by combining 2 rulers, 2 different sizes of circular curved rulers (i.e.; 2" & 4"), and one pattern combines circular and oval curved rulers.
This book has extensive graphics showing how to align the rulers to cut the pieces, seam allowances included, to make the quilts. Combine Virginia's easy 'No Pins' sewing method for curves and this book is a must have.

This book includes cutting instructions as well as Virginia's "No Pins" sewing techniques for the Creative Curves ELLIPSE Rulers. In addition, there are extensive graphics showing step-by-step instructions to make each of the Quilts and Borders.
The Creative Curves 1½” & 2" Ruler Set (w028R - circular curves) can be used in combination with the Creative Curves ELLIPSE Ruler Set, there are variations of some of the Quilts and Borders as well as one Quilt that will require the use of both sets of Rulers.
Multi-angle, Wedge Ruler

The Multi-Angle, Wedge Ruler and Sampler Pattern: A completely different tool for quilters. This Ruler will also make any block or quilt that has half-square triangles in them.
It will allow you to make blocks and quilts that combine different Angles (wedges); they include the following Angles 5, 9, 10, 15, 18, 20, 25, 30, 36, 40, 45, 50, & 60 degrees. What is unique to this new tool is the ability to first design an original block or quilt, then using a Chart that gives the size of rectangle or square to cut first, cut the triangles (2 identical triangles per rectangle or square) for the Angle that is desired.
Finally using the 'Slots' on the Multi-Angle, Wedge Ruler, cut off the point of the triangles; this step turns the triangles into Wedges with the correct 'starting to sew' position and an exact ¼" seam allowance.
The Sampler Pattern booklet that comes with each Ruler has 9 original Blocks plus an additional Pieced Square in the Border.
In addition to the booklet pattern, there is a page of Basic Instructions with extensive graphics showing 'how to' cut and sew with the Ruler and 2 Charts, one for Side Wedges and one for Corner Wedges. While each of the Blocks are 12" finished, the Charts give sizes to make from 2" to 18" finished Squares.

ILLUSIONS - KALEIDOSCOPE QUILTS uses the traditional Kaleidoscope Mosaic which is made with one square and creates a wide variety of quilts. From Stars and Landscapes to the illusion of Curves, the versatility of this fascinating Mosaic is explored.
The quilts are made with the Creative Curves Kaleidoscope Ruler which makes 2" to 12" finished Blocks and all seam allowances are included. Just decide on the size of the Block that is desired.
Two charts in the book provide information on how many pieces can be cut from each type of strip, as well as, how to figure the amount of fabric that will be needed if a different size Block is desired other than the one which is used in the patterns in the book.
