Biography
of pattern designer, Carole, who is also a quilter, teacher, and art quilter.
"I began quilting in 1992 following 25 years as a career banker. In
1998 I taught my first class and in 1999 started designing my own patterns
for teaching. Publishing followed later. I believe quilting, in its traditional
and art form is meant to be treasured and shared. I personally try to promote
this appreciation and encourage quilters of all levels through my patterns,
teaching and visual display of quilts. This time-honoured tradition of quilting
is further expressed through Guilds, Art Galleries and Museums.
My work is widely recognized, has been widely shown, with pieces living
in many parts of the world. My solo show was held in the Rollin Art Gallery
in Port Alberni, B.C. from January 15-February 9, 2005 and was very well
received. I hold several ribbons and plaques acknowledging my work."
These are fantastic beginners designs that will even please the experienced
quilter.

Arctic Messenger
WHD T560
(15” X 15”)
Rock sculpture is not new and is fun. This is a simple wall hanging using these forms.
After connecting with a soap stone carver from Hudson's Bay, help there and tons of research, I was able to come up with something realistic [of its venue] and
appealing. The rights were given up for 2 years when it was published in the Canadian Quilter magazine.
This piece has received many positive comments. My first concern when I made it was that perhaps it was too 'muffled' in its environment. [I did 4... one with each season around its feet], but was relieved of that concern when a quilter from the Northwest Territories was visiting my LQS the day I was in with the piece and the magazine article. She said 'that is exactly what they look like'.
